Surface and interface characterization using tensiometric methods:

  • Static surface and interfacial tension by the Wilhelmy plate method and Du Nouy ring method
  • Determination of the critical micelle formation concentration (CMC) and the critical aggregation constant (CAC)
  • Dynamic surface tension measurements with the bubble pressure method
  • Dynamic interfacial tension measurements by the drop volume method
  • Contact angle measurements on plane surfaces by the Wilhelmy plate method and contact angle measurements on powder and fiber samples according to the Washburn sorption method
  • Single fiber measurements to determine the wetting behavior
  • Surface free energy determinations on powders, fibers, textiles and plane solids based on contact angle measurements

Surface and interface characterization using optical methods:

  • Contact angle measurements on non-porous and porous solids as static or dynamic measurements, or as a function of time (e.g. for adsorption processes)
  • Determination of the surface free energy of non-porous and porous solids based on contact angle measurements
  • Determination of the polar and disperse fractions of the surface free energy
  • Determination of adhesion energies
