A portrait of Robert-John Dyer, Customer Adviser for the United Kingdom and Éire

Dear Reader,
My name is Rob Dyer, and I would like to take this opportunity of introducing myself as your contact partner from KRÜSS for the United Kingdom and Éire.

I completed my 4-year course of studies at Durham University in June 2007 with a Master’s Degree in Chemistry. Impressed by the customer-oriented and friendly appearance of the company, I joined KRÜSS a few months later.

At first I took part in setting up a new Surface Science Centre in the School of Chemistry at Bristol University; since June 2008 this has been the headquarters of our KRÜSS agency for Éire and the United Kingdom. From this location I can provide better support for our customers there – regardless of whether they have been working with KRÜSS instruments for many years or whether they want to know just how our instruments can bring them advantages in their own particular fields.

No matter what you are concerned about: do not hesitate to contact me. I will be pleased to support you in your current or future surface science applications.

KRÜSS Surface Science Centre opens in Bristol

The future close cooperation between the University of Bristol and KRÜSS was ceremonially inaugurated with the setting up of a KRÜSS Surface Science Centre within the School of Chemistry . KRÜSS customers from the whole of Great Britain and researchers from the University were present at the ceremony.

The future partnership was sealed by the presentation of commemorative plate to Prof. Julian Eastoe, the co-initiator of the cooperation. At the end of the ceremony, the guests were invited to visit the laboratory and to learn about the instruments and the services that the new centre could provide.

The Centre, equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for surface chemistry, is used by Robert-John Dyer, our local representative, as a base for looking after customers in the UK and Éire. Anyone who is interested in our measuring techniques can have them evaluated by carrying out measurements on samples - or see the instruments in action. The Centre also offers outstanding facilities for seminars and training courses.

The laboratory is not used by KRÜSS customers alone, but also by researchers from the University and the renowned Bristol Colloid Centre. The great potential of this fruitful cooperation for all parties is demonstrated by the first scientific paper presenting results obtained using facilities now available at the centre. It describes novel emulsions that can be separated under UV light but remix themselves in daylight.
