In April this year KRÜSS was once again in the political limelight. Two years after Lord Mayor Ole von Beust paid us a visit the Hamburger Senator for Trade and Labor, Gunnar Uldall, visited us together with his personal advisor Dr. Steinwärder. The reason for the visit was a renewed award by the medium-sized companies initiative "TOP 100", who awarded KRÜSS the first price for "Creative Processes and Innovation" for 2005.
His job makes Senator Uldall inquisitive about progressive processes. The economist and business consultant has made it his job to promote the medium-sized companies in Hamburg and use his political influence to bring about their recognition beyond the boundaries of Hamburg and Germany. Senator Uldall and his Departmnet for Trade and Labor are among the initiators of the "Medium-Sized Companies Promotion Institute" (Mittelstandsförderinstitut - MFI), which sees itself as a companion on the way to success of many promising companies in Hamburg.
Our guests learned that an innovative atmosphere has always been a feature of the KRÜSS corporate philosophy in the KRÜSS Museum, whose exhibits provide insights into the development of optical measuring techniques and tensiometry up to current times. Interest in the details was also shown by Senator Uldall and Dr. Steinwärder as KRÜSS Chief Executive Dr. Bünz provided the guests with an introduction to the theory of surface measurement techniques.
The DSA100 M(icro) is not a museum exhibit. Product manager Dr. Jan-Gerd Frerichs and industrial student Torben Schörck used it to demonstrate the measurement of a water drop on a single hair to the amazed visitors. During the subsequent works visit the visitors took time to examine the interplay between development, production, quality control and applications.
The final item on the agenda concerned the marketing strategy of KRÜSS - with China firmly in the foreground. In discussion with Dipl. Ing. Lili Xi, a member of our sales team, the visitors learned about our activities on the Chinese market. The final act -after Senator Uldall had left - was a personal exchange of opinions between the management and Dr. Steinwärder. KRÜSS would like to thank our visitors for their lively interest in our company.

No, not every year, but every 6 years the two most important trade fairs for German laboratory instrument manufacturers – Achema and Analytica – take place within four weeks. However, the numerous visitors to both fairs also rewarded the not inconsiderable efforts we made in 2006.
At ANALYTICA 2006 in Munich KRÜSS GmbH presented the latest member of our range of tensiometers: EasyDyne. The name is no accident. The EasyDyne tensiometer convinced the visitors with its extremely simple operation combined with a large number of programmable measuring procedures.
In time for the ACHEMA in Frankfurt we were able to show the first portable contact angle measuring instrument for non-destructive measurement on samples of almost any size: MobileDrop. The interest in this new product was correspondingly large. With the MobileDrop it is not only possible to make measurement on samples of almost any size, but also on samples tilted at any angle and in recesses that would otherwise be difficult to access. Of course, the other surface tension measurement techniques were demonstrated at both trade fairs.
Many domestic and foreign customers used the opportunity to exchange information and inform themselves about the state of the art and our latest innovative products. KRÜSS is pleased to be able to take care of these contacts when the fairs are over.
