Spinning Drop Tensiometer – SDT wins the Focus Open Silver Award 2016

Renowned design prize for our interfacial tension measuring instrument

The internationally esteemed Design Center Baden-Württemberg has distinguished our Spinning Drop Tensiometer – SDT with the Focus Open Silver Award 2016. Germany’s only state design institute presents the prestigious prize annually for products “which assume a leading position in a category as a result of exceptional design quality and innovative product solutions”. Prizewinner in the Production, Assembly and Logistics category is the Hamburg-based company zweigrad, which worked intensively with our development engineers on the design of the SDT.

The SDT for measuring interfacial tension displays a close union between form and functionality. Our patent-pending concept for quick and easy sample changing, for instance, is optimally embedded in the design. The instrument also impresses with clearly accentuated and logically arranged control elements. Particularly innovative is a garage for the motorized camera which protects this sensitive component once the measurement has been completed. The safety aspects, which are very important for a laboratory instrument, were also no obstacle to implementing an attractive design.

The award ceremony took place on October 7, 2016. The SDT together with the prize-winning products in all categories will be exhibited in the MIK Museum in Ludwigsburg, Germany until November 20. We congratulate zweigrad on the Focus Open Silver Award 2016 and are delighted with the distinction of our SDT.
